This is how it all started. From the 15th century to the bleeding edge technology of the 21st. Drawn on a prepared ground of calcium carbonate, the gold, silver, and platinum pointed stylus leaves the finest line that you can possibly imagine. These drawings were done years after seeing the work of Doug Norman. Mr. Norman, who is a Professor of Fine Art at the Columbus College of Art & Design, had done several incredibly meticulous studies of human skulls that impressed me so much that I ended up pursuing a career in medical illustration. I still remember seeing his silverpoint drawing in the faculty exhibition and the first time he showed me the ink wash drawing…. I have yet to see their equal and doubt that I ever will.
